Picasso with Bettina and Umbrella, 1955

Photographed for LIFE in 1955 in his new Cannes Villa, La Californie, Picasso celebrates his Fashion debut by clowning around with an umbrella. Top French Model, Bettina Graziani wears an outfit by American Fashion Designer Claire McCardell. The shirt’s pattern is in the style of a Picasso still life. All the Picasso paintings pictured had been completed within the past few months. All Mark Shaw prints are made to order in limited editions on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper. Each print is Estate stamped on the back and signed and numbered by David Shaw, and accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Lead time is four to six weeks, but we often receive them sooner.
