Alice Bruno with Siamese Cat, 1950

Model with Siamese Cat — Mark Shaw photographed model Alice Bruno for Mademoiselle in 1950 holding a Siamese kitten — A favorite model of Shaw’s, Alice Bruno also appeared on one of his 1951 LIFE covers. The Siamese cat is renowned as extremely vocal, intelligent, and affectionate and is typically very social and exhibits a love of human and feline companionship. The first Siamese cats outside their Asian home of Siam, now Thailand, were sent as gifts in the late 1880’s by the British consul-General and the American consul in Bangkok. All Mark Shaw prints are made to order in limited editions on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper. Each print is Estate stamped on the back and signed and numbered by David Shaw, and accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Lead time is four to six weeks, but we often receive them sooner.
