john1We are delighted to offer a rare and striking writing desk by mid-century maestro, John Vesey.

     JOHN VESEY (1924 – 1992)
Bureau Plat
Louis XVI style writing desk in steel, with gold bronze trim and leather top. Featuring two pull-out side rests, fluted leg construction, and suede-lined drawers. American, c. 1960     29″H  60″W (80″ opened)  30″D
In 1965 Bill Cunningham described Vesey as “the leader in opulent modern glass, steel, and leather furniture of exceedingly fine taste.” And he was definitely not alone in his opinion. Vesey’s pieces have been voraciously sought after since the 1960’s by chic collectors like Jane Holzer, Carolina Herrera, Leo Castelli, and Van Day Truex.

Based on the bold and geometrical forms popular during the reign of Louis XVI, Vesey modernized the desk with his signature use of sleek metal and luxurious detailing.
