Pietro Chiesa, who in the early 1920s participated in the Venice Biennale as well as the Expostion des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, joined Fontana Arte in 1932 at the request of Gio Ponti. It was here that Chiesa would share in Ponti’s artistic direction to create his expressive, modern pieces.
MAX INGRAND (1908–1969)

Italian, c. 1955. 32”H x 9”W x 6”DMax Ingrand, an important glass worker and decorator in his own right, studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, specializing in the Decorative Arts. From 1954 to 1964, Ingrand was artistic director of Fontana Arte, where he created many of the house’s most renowned, enduring classics.
