Netto x Nocon: New Lighting
«Back to NewsA big thank you to all our colleagues, friends and well-wishers who came out to fete Jennifer Nocon and David Netto and preview their latest Netto x Nocon lighting collection. It was great fun welcoming our Southern California friends with conviviality and an Ivy gimlet!
The new collection takes its inspiration from Matisse cut-outs and playful creature-like forms. Horned ‘Toro’ lamp bases, fish and bird silhouettes applied to bulbous forms, and jar-shaped vases covered in incised feather patterns bring this new work to life with unmistakable sculptural presence.
These hand-built studio ceramics have a soulful quality that reveals the essence and plasticity of the stoneware medium. As Jennifer has said, “In terms of shapes and finishes, I like things to remain as close to their natural state as possible…. The dyes I use are natural and I paint with water. So, everything has a raw, unmanufactured vibe.”
